TIPS & TRICKS for better fuel prices in Belgium β›½ πŸ’² πŸ’²

Did you know that Belgium is one of the countries where list prices are practiced? The price is officially determined by the Belgian government and differs from the one displayed at the pump.

YOU CAN FIND HERE ALL THE LIST PRICES IN BELGIUM

Your DKV card is accepted in networks such as G&V, AVIA, TEXACO, Q8, LUKOIL & ESSO EXPERSS.

ROAD TAXES IN BELGIUM

Belgium uses a satellite charging system for goods vehicles with a total permissible weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes (excluding buses and passenger vehicles) and, from 1 April 2016, the obligation has been imposed that each local vehicle, or foreign freight transport, over 3.5 tons, be equipped with a functional board unit (OBU) on Belgian roads.

It is important to know that the Belgian toll system includes the road network divided into 3 regions: Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia. Different rates apply in the taxable areas, all charges being recorded by the satellite unit. VAT does not apply to the regions of Flanders and Brussels. Only in the Wallonia region is the toll with VAT.

For this purpose, Satellic (the main charging operator in Belgium) requests for the on-board unit (OBU) the payment of a guarantee in the amount of 135 euros, which will be returned upon return of the on-board device.

Of course, as a holder of the DKV Box Europe charging device, you do not have to pay this guarantee. In addition to Belgium, it also offers the possibility to pay the toll in: Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Portugal and Bulgaria.

REQUESTS REFUND OF EXCISE DUTY ON DIESEL FUEL

We also inform you that you can claim a refund of excise duty on diesel paid in Belgium. The condition for reimbursement is that the vehicles have a minimum total permissible weight of 7.5 tonnes.

Spain: temporary measures on VAT and excise duties (March–June 2026)

Dear customer,

We inform you that the Spanish authorities have introduced a set of temporary measures aimed at reducing fuel costs in the transport sector, applicable from 22 March 2026.

Application period
The measures entered into force on 22 March 2026 and are applicable until 30 June 2026, as published in the BoletΓn Oficial del Estado (BOE).
Temporary reduction of the VAT rate
The VAT rate for diesel has been temporarily reduced from 21% to 10%.
The application of the reduced rate in June 2026 depends on the evolution of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the month of April:

If the CPI does not exceed the level of April 2025 by more than 15%, the VAT rate will return to 21%.
If the CPI exceeds this 15% threshold, the reduced rate of 10% will continue to apply in June.

Products covered by the reduced VAT rate: Petrol, Diesel, Hydrocarbons (except coal and solid hydrocarbons)

Excise duty measures – professional diesel

The excise duty refund (EUR 0.049/litre) is temporarily suspended and set at zero.
A temporary aid of EUR 0.20/litre is granted to diesel beneficiaries.
This aid:

Applies to transport operators eligible for the partial refund of excise duty on hydrocarbons;
It is only available for vehicles registered with the Agencia Tributaria;
Temporarily replaces the standard excise duty refund mechanism.
The granting of the aid is conditional on payments being made by fuel cards for diesel.
